Message Musings: The Game of Life

The following article is based upon Pastor Tony's message "The Game of Life" preached on July 26th, 2020

Life is a beautiful gift from God, and it is too valuable to waste. We may have played the "Game of Life" at our kitchen tables, but Life is no game.

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. 23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: 24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

Philippians 1:21-24

Questions to Determine How I Am Living Life

What is my life?

Philippians 1:21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

A life well-lived begins with this question. What is your life all about? For Paul, the answer was "Christ." Loving Christ, serving Christ, preaching Christ. How might you answer this question?

Even though it is a tough question to answer, it's worth taking the time to survey your life and figure out, "What makes up my life?"

What am I accomplishing with my life?

Philippians 1:21-22 - For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

Paul's eternity was settled! Even though he was approaching the end of his life, he knew that he would gain heaven through death. As much as he was ready for eternity, Paul knew that he had work to do while he lived. His life was spreading the Gospel of Christ throughout the world.

It's time that we consider what our lives are accomplishing for Christ. Life is brief; let's make the most of it!
