Become Eligible to Join

Any person is eligible to join Newton if the following are true:

  • You have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior
  • You have followed God's simple command of being baptized by immersion. Baptism is not necessary for salvation; it is simply a public testimony of your faith.
  • You have read and are in agreement with Newton Baptist Church’s Statement of Faith
  • You may also be eligble to transfer membership from a church of like faith.

Two Steps to Join Newton

  • Interview: Those interested in membership must have an interview with the Pastor or a person appointed by the Pastor. The purpose of the interview is to hear the prospective member’s testimony, to answer questions and to share information about previous church membership.
  • Presentation to Congregation: The Pastor or Pastoral Staff will recommend new members to the congregation. Membership shall be granted upon majority vote of the members present.

Commitments of Church Membership

Attend

I commit to faithfully attend a LifeGroup as well as all of the weekly services of the church unless I am providentially hindered.

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Hebrews 10:25

Serve

I commit to find a weekly place of service and ministry within the first six months of joining the church.

10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. 11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Peter 4:10-11

Give

I commit to faithfully support the ministries of the church through the giving of tithes, faith promise, and offerings.

7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.
2 Corinthians 8:7
